About Us
In the annals of history few samurai have had the recognition of Miyamoto Musashi.
This legendary Samurai, developed a direct aggressive dueling and battlefield technique system that defeated all who challenged him in combat. In this system he introduced psychological warfare, that was second to none. He also trained and developed techniques using double swords known as "Waza."
The school he formed was; "Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu," (Two Swords Under Heaven as One.)
This is the principal art that in our Kenjutsu that is thought here once you achieve the basic customs and usages of the Bokuto, a wooden sword shaped like a Katana. This will be the art of "Ishikawa Ryu."
The Ishikawa is a school of training that utilizes illusive and deceptive training of the bokuto.
And the last type of training is the school of Kage Ryu, customs and usages of the "Tachi, and Otachi," which are long battlefield swords four and half feet to six foot long wooden swords.
We do not train in full katanas (metal Japanese fencing swords) until after some years of full training with bokutos do to the dangers of severe injuries to fatalities can occur at any moment with active blades.
Our Story
NITEN ICHI-RYU
Niten Ichi-ryu, which loosely translated as “the school of the strategy of two heavens as one is a koryu (ancient school), transmitting a style of classical Japanese swordsmanship conceive by the famous warrior Miyamoto Musashi. Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu is mainly known for the 2 swords, katana and wakizashi: kenjutsu techniques named by the founder and legendary swordsman duelist & and warrior Miyamoto Musashi.
Around 1640, Musashi intended to pass on his art to 3 successors to among his more than Thousand students; specifically, to Terao Maganoyo, his younger brother Kyumanosuke and to Furuhashi Sozaemon.
Miyamoto Musashi handed down his writings on military strategy as Ihon go rin no sho". later in another century an English version was written called the “The Book of Five Rings”. It is considered one of the greatest books on military strategy ever composed.
Shortly before his death, Musashi also wrote the Dokkodo (Going My Way) it seens to be list of rules that one should try to follow in life: in essence each rule has very deep meaning steeped in Buddhist precepts.
Niten is the only school that is invited to demonstrate annually for the Emperor and the imperial (council of Japan. There are five teaching levels in this art and the highest is known as "Menkyo Kaiden” (Head Instructor).
In this system there are always tree Menkyo Kaidens and upon the death of the "Soke’- Head of the organization. one of the Menkyo Kaiden is appointed by the others to take the place of the desist Soke.
ISHIKAWA: KENIUTSU
This system is a lot more of a liberal system: and was used by the military police during the 1800's in Japan. Ishikawa is a system that has roots and strategy borrowed from Sun Tzu.
The Art of War.
Ishikawa is based on illusiveness and deception as compared to Niten which i extremely aggressive and direct.
Sarkissian Sensei, has been appointed by Niten Ichi-ryu as officially the representative in Latin America and is a full recognized Sensei instructor under this systems and lshikama Kenjutu and had has a trained personally under bout Batayola Sensei Head instructor of Kenjutsu in Philippines and Hyakatake Sensei one of the great Menkyo Kaiden of the highest authorities in the world on the Japanese Sword and one of the weaponry do to his Mastery on multiple Sword arts.
